Response to The Diary of A Young Girl part I: Anne Frank had an inconvenient death due to Germany
during World War II. The impact that Anne has left on me is that she was
strong, wise, and powerful while still trying to survive during one of the most
deadly wars. Anne expressed her strong and powerful feelings for Peter Van Daan
and how they fell in love with each other. Her strength and courage expanded
each and every day as she was living in the attic above her father’s work. When
the liberation was happening, Anne had died only two months before, and it
would have given her and her family what they wanted most, their freedom and
security. Anne Frank’s story was so elevating and humanizing that I felt like I
was in the story myself. Anne never gave up, even though nobody knew when the
Second World War was to be over.
While reading The Diary of a Young Girl, I was getting personally connected to Anne because when she was coming of age she was having her hormones and feelings go crazy because she is living with Peter Van Daan. They fall deeply in love and can’t resist each other. When that happens in the story I can relate because when girls have feelings and they can’t help who they go for and it just happens. Anne and Peter started off a little off track but then they started to realize the goods characteristics of each other. Also, Anne grows to become so smart and wise. As she grows in the attic, she reads books and gains more vocabulary so she becomes smarter. When she writes, she starts to sound more and more superior as because she is coming of age and I feel as I grow and come of age, me and Anne become more and more alike. After reading this book, I have learned that intolerance is still going on today and probably won’t stop because discrimination is still happening today. I have also learned that it doesn’t matter what gender, race, religion, or sexuality a person is. On that point, a lesson to be learned is no matter what type of person you are, people should still love you and care for each and every person in this world. Here’s a question to ask yourself, would you like it if you were the person getting teased for your appearance, religion, gender, race or sexuality? Because even though a person has different beliefs than you doesn’t mean that you have to dislike them and every human on this earth is the exact same on the inside. |
